5 Strategies That Get New Coaches Quick Results

business man writing the start up planNew Coaches have different needs than more established coaches. If you make less than $50,000 a year, different marketing strategies work best for you.

Because their needs are different, when a new coach hires a marketing professional who works mainly with more established coaches, it often results in disappointment.

As the new coach you end up with a lot of great information that you’re sure will be useful “someday,” but in the meantime, you are no closer to getting your business up, running and profitable in the way you expected to when you signed up.

Instead it’s likely you’ll feel frustrated and lost. There aren’t that many marketing coaches who work mainly with new coaches; however as one of them I am acutely aware of the strategies that work best for new coaches, and those with smaller practices.

I’ve pulled the top 5 strategies you need to employ to get your business up and start getting clients now. Here they are:

  1. Create a web presence that is quick and effective, including an opt-in page to start building your email list, a free taste, and a one page website.  Most new coaches try to create a full-blown website right off the bat, often because it’s the one thing they know how to do.

This is a huge mistake, because they end up spending too much money and too much time on it: Time they should be spending getting clients, and money that would be better spent on marketing help specific to their niche.

  2. Choose a free taste that you can create in 2 weeks. There are all kinds of free tastes out there, elaborate and lengthy, kits, simple tools, etc. You want to establish your email list and get it going, but you don’t need to spend months on a free taste. Again, you need to be out getting clients.

  3. Create an entry-level program or bonuses that you offer “live.” Most established coaches have created products and packages programs they can offer at lower price points or as bonuses to entice ideal clients into their circle.

New coaches don’t usually have those types of tools yet, and it’s not worth your time at this stage to create one. Instead, offer a 90 minute 1-on-1”Intensive,”or a small group seminar or teleseminar series.

  4. Consider the 1-on-1 intensive over a small group teleseminar if you are brand-new. A 1-on-1 gives you the opportunity to create the most solid bond with your clients and help them the most.

When that happens, they are much more likely to upgrade to your next level program. Your higher level programs are where they receive the most transformational results, which is more satisfying for both of you.

  5. Get face-to-face with prospective clients. The internet is great for long-term growth, and for some short-term growth, but if you’re serious about growing your business, you must get out and meet your market.

Give talks, go to expos, find out when the conventions are and attend. Wherever your market hangs out, that’s where you want to be. Nothing builds the “like/know/trust” factor more than meeting people face to face.

These are some of the best strategies to get your business going quickly, and in the right direction when you’re first starting out. And remember, when you’re looking for help, niching works both ways.

It’s not only your best bet to choose a specific niche market that you can really help, it’s also your best bet to choose a coach for yourself whose niche market is specific enough to really help you.
