Set Yourself up for 6 figures—From the Start

“I want to make at least 6 figures, working with about 20 clients a week, and have plenty of time for activities outside of my business. Oh, and I’d also like to do workshops sometimes.”

This statement, or some variation of it, is what I most often hear when I ask coaches or experts just getting started, what their “Ideal Vision” for their business is.

What they don’t realize is that for most, that’s an unrealistic scenario. NOT the making 6 figures and living a balanced life part, that’s very doable.  It’s the 20 clients a week one-on-one, with a balanced life, that’s unrealistic.

In order to keep a calendar full of that many one-on-one clients, most coaches would have to spend a minimum of 20-30 hours a week on marketing activities.

In addition, even when you are passionate about it, working with clients one-on-one is an intense activity. Five clients a day is a full days’ work, without even taking into account the amount of marketing needed!

So right there, your life becomes unbalanced. Plus, you’ve hit your limit: Let’s say you did exactly that, charging around the current “dollars for hours” going rate. You’d barely hit 6 figures, but not much over.

You’d be working very hard, with an unbalanced life, indefinitely! The only way to raise your income would be to raise your fees, and you still wouldn’t be able to help any more people.

There’s a better way.

There’s a model that takes you to six figures easily and beyond, allowing you to have the life you want outside your business, even as your business grows.

It’s the model that every successful 6 figure coach is using these days, and the best time to establish this model is when you start your business.

I’ve offered an example of this model and broken it down into 5 levels, so you can clearly see how to get to 6 figures and beyond:

Level 1

Your email list is the basic building block that will enable you to soar to 6 figures—and keep going. You set up your list by offering a “free taste” to your market.

In order to do this, you first need to:

  • Clarify or refine your target market and niche
  • Create your signature system
  • Create your offers and price them

At this beginning level, you’ll be focusing on marketing activities that bring you one-on-one clients immediately, which also build your list.

Level 2

Once you’ve gotten some clients and started growing your list, it’s time to focus even more directly on list building, while continuing your level one activities.

Level 3

Now that your list has begun to grow, it’s time to offer group teleseminars. Because you now have a list to offer them to, you’ll be able to easily fill them with your ideal clients. You’ll use the teleseminars to build your list more quickly, and you’ll also continue level one marketing activities.

This is the level where you’ll definitely want to engage a Virtual Assistant, if you haven’t already done so.

Level 4

At this level, you’ll use your teleseminars to enroll clients into a bigger, long term group program, such as a group Platinum.

Your private coaching becomes even more valuable, and you raise the investment for it, doing less one-on-on coaching. The private clients you’ll be working with will be only top-notch, committed, ideal clients.

Your list is large enough and you’ve created enough credibility and celebrity to shift your focus: you are marketing mainly to your list, engaging in list growing activities, offering group programs, and working with high-paying, select one-on-one clients. You’ve hit the 6 figure mark.

Level 5

It’s time to create a 2 or 3 day live business seminar, offering great content and filling it with excited members of your tribe. Because they’ve been “following” you, they are willing to invest a significant amount of time and money into the seminar, including travel and hotel accommodations just to be with you!

In the seminar you make your biggest offers yet, sending your income into multiple 6 figures. You’re significantly helping even more people, all the while enjoying a balanced life. And it only gets better from there . . .
